MALAPPURAM: Hundreds of people from different parts of the district assembled at Swalat Nagar, near here, on Wednesday night singing hymns and paeans in praise of Prophet Mohammed as part of his birthday celebrations. Madinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya organised the function. District Collector M.C. Mohandas inaugurated the celebrations titled ‘Light of Madina.’ Sayed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari, chairman of the Madinu Ssaquafathil Islamiyya, presided over the function. Egyptian Hadith scholar Ahmed Kamil Husain Darvish was the chief guest on the occasion. — Staff Reporter
